Mary Faithful

We have moments in life that we feel like life is going to destroy us. Nothing is working out at all. Every day we endlessly work on our dreams and goals, but nothing happens. Then the doubt sets in. We wonder if we are going down the wrong path in life. What is God not showing to us? Wasn’t this the dream he planted in our hearts? Why is everything going wrong? Why is it not working out?

On top of our dreams not working out as we expected, everything else in life is going sideways. Colleagues at work are being nasty and unfair. Bills are piling high and there is no possible way to get out of debt. Friendships start falling away. Family members continue to doubt us.

Yes, we feel alone. Then we remember the word of God and know that “he began a good work in us and will carry us to completion.”

Sometimes when God is taking us someplace special and doing a good work in us, we will begin to lose. We lose all the stability and control of our lives. This is when faith kicks in because God is our foundation and we need to rebuild our house the right way.

Meet Mary

Mary was always a faithful servant of God. It was only fitting that God chose her to be the mother of Jesus. Mary was planning her wedding to Joseph when an angel visited and told her that she will carry God’s child. Yes, Mary was excited, but can we imagine how terrified she must have been? She had to break the news to her fiancé Joseph that she was still a virgin and……….pregnant.

We know if Mary was pregnant today, she would probably be on a talk show with Joseph waiting on a DNA test to confirm that he was not the father of Jesus. It would be a spectacle and the headlines of gossip magazines would be fascinating.

However, Mary took a three-month timeout to continue to work on her faith. She went to live with her cousin Elizabeth who was also pregnant with a miracle baby. Mary did not drown in her sorrows or stayed with people who doubted her. Mary knew that she had to be around someone of faith.

Sometimes when life is not going the way we planned, we need to be like Mary and take a timeout. We also need to be around people of faith and study the word of God and speak goodness over our lives. It is alright if we lose people and things, we just cannot lose our faith in God.

Prayer

God, I promise to keep my faith in times of hopelessness. I know that you will carry me through the unknown into a place of abundance. God, I know that some people will not stay with me on my journey, but I have faith that you bring the right people in my life. God, I know and have that you will make my dreams come true and I will continue to be your faithful service.
